Family Support

Family support services are provided to individuals who need help regarding family challenges, such as domestic violence, or difficulty building parent-child rapport.

Family Services of Greater Vancouver

  • Non-profit organization that aims to help homeless youth, families experiencing trauma, victims of domestic violence
  • Provide Family Services guided by a committed volunteer Board of Directors and a seasoned, empathetic senior leadership team.
  • Family support programs include but are not limited to: Family Preservation, Parent-Teen Mediation, Foster Family Support Services, Early Childhood Community Consultant.

Family Support Institute of BC

  • The Family Support Institute of BC (FSI) is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families with a member who has a disability.
  • You can expect A listening, supportive and understanding ear, non judgemental and confidential support, Shared lived experience, Ongoing support and guidance when you call FSI.
  • After FSI receives a family support request, FSI staff will communicate with the family to understand their needs. FSI staff will promptly refer the family to appropriate resources or connect them with a Resource Parent/Peer (RP). Lastly, A Resource Parent/Peer (RP) calls a family.

Justice Access Centres

  • Justice Access Centre
  • Assist individuals with family law issues and some Supreme Court civil law issues such as:
    • Separation or divorce
    • Simple probate
    • Requesting a review of decisions of the Residential Tenancy Branch and various tribunals
    • Appeals to the Supreme Court
    • General Supreme Court Information
  • What to expect:
    • If you have a family law issue, you may speak with a family justice counsellor or a child support officer and learn about or participate in dispute resolution.
    • You will be linked to community groups as needed
    • If you need legal advice or are interested in meeting with a lawyer, you will be provided service information
    • Services provided by Justice Access Centre staff are free
    • Staff may refer you to services that are based on financial need, and so may ask about your income
    • Justice Access Centres do not deal with criminal issues, small claims court forms and filings or some other specific legal solutions

  • Provide services free of charge to parents and other family members.
