Who We Are
Vision
Inspire participation from everyone for a safe, healthy and thriving community.
Mission Statement
Through educational outreach and crime prevention programs we help to raise personal safety awareness and reduce the incidence of crime. Through our translation and interpretation services we help make policing more accessible to, and better understood by, the Chinese speaking community.
Mandate
Work in collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department, community partners and volunteers to reduce crime and enhance safety in Chinatown. Actively develop and implement programs to promote safety and to foster a positive relationship between the Vancouver Police Department and the Chinese community. Support and assist Chinese speaking victims of crime, through translation and interpretation, to permit better access to police services and the justice system. Be a bridge between service providers and the community.
History
Our centre was founded in 1992 by the Chinese Benevolent Association, the Chinese Cultural Centre, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., the Vancouver Chinatown Merchants Association and the Chinese Freemasons. We started with a small office on Main Street, in the heart of Chinatown.Since then we have moved 5 times and are now located at 44 E Pender Street to better serve the community. We have a large group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to help deliver a wide variety of programs.
